In a post on his own social media platform, Truth Social, Trump announces that the US is ready to begin exploration and extraction of oil, gas and minerals in “our beautiful and new Greenland”. These are likely to be words that do not sit well with the Danes. If this goes ahead, there will be little left of the Danish Realm.
Extensive exploration for oil, gas and minerals is about to begin in our new and beautiful Greenland! There are experts who claim that the amount of readily accessible oil is far greater than in almost any other country, anywhere in the world, and – even more importantly – that Greenland, from a security perspective regarding both defence and attack for both the US and Europe, is unrivalled. Any future attack on the US will have to pass over Greenland, where our defence forces will routinely shoot down drones, missiles or other forms of weaponry that have not even yet been invented. This gives us time, location and visibility unlike anywhere else in the world! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP
The US will protect the American continent with a missile defence shield starting in Greenland. Norway will not be included in this.
