A minor has been charged with attempted murder following the stabbing at Kuben Upper Secondary School in Økern, Oslo, on Tuesday.
The situation was handled in accordance with the PLIVO procedure (ongoing life-threatening violence), and several ambulances and fire service units are at the scene.
Several videos of the knife attack on Tuesday morning are reportedly circulating on social media, VG reports.
‘We have arrested a person who is a minor. We have not interviewed him so far, but that may happen later today,’ says police prosecutor Anders Mørland.
‘As far as we know, there were many witnesses to this. We have been told that several videos are being shared on social media. My appeal to the public is to refrain from indiscriminately spreading such videos. Doing so may be a criminal offence. Send these videos to the police instead.’
Teacher Marianne Lange Krogh, who heads the Union of Education Norway (Utdanningsforbundet) in Oslo, says that a sense of insecurity is growing among her colleagues at Oslo’s upper secondary schools.
‘We are deeply concerned about the increasing prevalence of weapons in schools that we are seeing not only at Kuben, but also at other upper secondary schools in Oslo. And for us, our foremost concern is to safeguard the safety of the pupils and our members and employees.’
Kuben also experienced an incident involving weapons in January, when several shots were fired outside the school.

Updated: A suspect has now been arrested. The suspect and the victim are two boys aged 16 and 17.
‘We are well under way with the investigation. We have carried out a number of enquiries and interviewed a number of witnesses,’ police prosecutor Andreas Myrseth Kolstad tells VG at 17:00.
The journalist asks whether the police have a specific suspect in the case.
‘We have a number of leads to pursue and have received a good deal of information about what may have happened. But at present, there are no entirely clear hypotheses that stand out.’
No injuries have been reported to anyone other than the victim, who is seriously injured.
