A 17-year-old was shot by two 14-year-old girls in Södertälje on Monday evening.
At around 7.30 p.m. on Monday evening, gunshots were heard near a school in the Ronna district of Södertälje. According to information obtained by Expressen, the victim was a 17-year-old boy who is said to have been shot in the stomach. The boy was taken to hospital by ambulance, and initially it was unclear how serious his injury was.
The hitmen are getting younger and younger. Fourteen-year-old girls are nevertheless something that attracts attention. The networks are keen to use the youngest. Sweden recently lowered the age of criminal responsibility to 14.
Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) describes the shooting in Södertälje as ‘very serious’.
– If it turns out that this is gang-related, it is a reminder that society has no room to relent in the fight against the gangs. There is no doubt that we have had success in this fight since 2022; the number of shootings has fallen by 80 per cent, and that means we are on the right track. But we are not there yet. Beneath the surface, a willingness to commit further acts of violence is smouldering, Gunnar Strömmer told TT.
What is unfolding in Sweden is reminiscent of conditions in countries such as Mexico and Colombia, where so-called sicarios carried out contract killings. It has now become established practice in Social Democratic Sweden, and politicians have difficulty coming to terms with it.
Young girls have increasingly been mentioned recently in connection with shootings and other offences. DN has previously described how a 15-year-old girl is being held on remand, suspected of two murders during the spring: one in which a teenager was shot and killed in Vårby, south of Stockholm, on 23 March, and another a couple of days later, when a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed in Malmö.
