Iran has launched several drones at commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz after the agreement with the United States was signed on Sunday, a source tells The Jerusalem Post.
The source adds that all the drones were intercepted by the U.S. military before they posed any threat to commercial shipping or to American naval vessels and personnel.
A U.S. official tells NBC that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has launched several drones every night since Sunday.
The U.S. military continues to coordinate with shipping companies in support of vessels transiting into and out of the Strait of Hormuz.
The fragile situation raises questions about how the Iranian leadership is functioning at present. Is the IRGC acting independently, or is there no actor in Iran who genuinely desires peace?
The situation recalls previous agreements between Israel and the Palestinians, in which Israel made concessions, such as relinquishing territory in exchange for promises of peace, only to search in vain for any subsequent peace.
