At least one person was killed when Iran launched an attack on the international airport outside Kuwait City. Terminal Building 1 sustained extensive damage. Iran has claimed responsibility for the attack and says it was a legitimate punishment for Kuwait allowing the USA to operate from its territory. Whether the USA sees it the same way is another question.
Iran has carried out a series of attacks against American forces and countries in the region, despite negotiations and a ceasefire. Trump may feel that enough is enough.
“Facilities and territories in Kuwait and Bahrain have been used to support American military operations against Iran, and the countries are therefore directly responsible for the USA’s attacks,” the ministry claims.
– A lesson for the USA
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated on Wednesday that Iran’s attacks must be seen as a lesson for the USA, writes Al Jazeera.
The Revolutionary Guard accuses the USA of having attacked an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz and says that it attacked the ship MSC Panaya in response to this.
It further writes that American forces also attacked a communications tower south of Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media reported during the night into Wednesday that explosions had been heard near Qeshm.
The USA and the neighbouring countries must have a limit to how much they can tolerate. Calls are now being made for everyone to choose sides against Iran.
Following the attacks during the night into Wednesday, the United Arab Emirates is now calling for a united position against Iran from the Gulf States. The Gulf States is a designation for the countries Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. (NTB)
One may say that Iran, through its reckless attacks on neighbouring countries, has achieved what Trump has not managed to achieve: driving them into the arms of Israel.
