Iranian Mohammad Baquer Al-Saadi (32) wanted to avenge his great leader and role model, General Qasem Soleimani, by attacking Trump’s daughter Ivanka and the couple’s home in Florida. He never managed to do so before he was apprehended, but it was no empty threat. Al-Saadi possessed maps of the Kushner couple’s house. For Trump, the knowledge that Iran wanted to kill his daughter may be a motivating factor.
The Iranian leadership was in shock when Soleimani was killed at the airport in Baghdad in January 2020.
Al-Saadi operated a religious travel agency and used it as cover for planning terror attacks around the world.
Al-Saadi also posted a photograph on X of a map showing the area in Florida where Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner own a 24-million-dollar house, together with a chilling threat in Arabic that may be translated as: “I say to the Americans: Look at this image and know that neither your palaces nor the Secret Service will protect you. We are currently in a phase of surveillance and analysis. I told you: Our revenge is only a matter of time.”
Al-Saadi is said to be a high-ranking figure in terror circles in Iraq and Iran. He was arrested in Turkey on 15 May and extradited to the United States, where he has been charged in connection with 18 attacks and attempted attacks across Europe and the United States, according to the Department of Justice.
He has been behind attacks on American and Jewish targets, including the firebombing of the Bank of New York Mellon in Amsterdam in March, the stabbing of two Jewish victims in London in April and a shooting at the American consulate in Toronto, also in March, according to the Department of Justice.
He is also alleged to have “planned, coordinated” and allegedly claimed responsibility for attacks against Jews, including the bombing of a synagogue in Liège in Belgium and the arson attack on a temple in Rotterdam in March, according to the FBI, as well as several other foiled retaliatory attacks in the United States in response to the current conflict in the Middle East.
Al-Saadi is said to be an agent of both Kata’ib Hizballah and Iran’s IRGC.
“Publicly available information shows that Mohammad Baqer was in contact with and a close friend of … Qasem Soleimani, and that in itself is an enormous coup for any agent within the ranks of these militias, and in addition he was then close to [Esmail] Qaani, who replaced Soleimani,” said Elizabeth Tsurkov, senior fellow at the New Lines Institute in Washington, D.C., who was kidnapped in Baghdad in 2023 and held hostage by Kata’ib Hizballah for 903 days before being released in September 2025.
She said she did not know whether Al-Saadi had been one of her kidnappers, as she only saw them wearing masks.
It may well be that Trump is in possession of more information than is publicly known. The mere knowledge that a friend of Soleimani wanted to murder his daughter may be enough to make the war more personal.
