On Monday I was temporarily suspended from X.
The background was a video I published on TikTok in response to the deputy leader of AUF. Another user subsequently published a «stitch» video on TikTok in which he told me to shut up and added an explicit, sexualised comment. In the caption he wrote: «can someone give that woman some dick… maybe she’ll jump off ours».
It was this video that I shared further on X, with the comment: «Someone has forgotten to tell our new fellow citizens that they cannot tell women to shut up here in Norway».
Shortly afterwards I received notification that the post violated the platform’s rules against «violent speech». My account was temporarily restricted for twelve hours. During this period I cannot publish, like or share posts. X stated that full functionality could be restored immediately if I deleted the post. I have chosen not to do so. Instead, I have submitted a complaint.
As appears from the attached screenshots, it was my comment on X that was assessed as a violation of the rules. After Elon Musk took over the platform, X has been presented as a space for greater freedom of expression and less arbitrary moderation.
So where are you now, Elon?
