Minorities and people with gaps in their CVs fast-tracked into police jobs

When one reads that “several people with immigrant backgrounds, reduced functional ability and gaps in their CVs have got jobs in the police”, there is one question that is not asked: Are the appointments for the sake of the minorities, or so that the police shall become better? Do they add competence to the police, or are the appointments so that the leadership shall get gold stars in the book? Most important of all: Can one trust them?

Zohran Mamdani has alarmed many establishment Democrats—people like Chuck Schumer, Dan Goldman, and Jerry Nadler. They were used to thinking of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as the most radical politician from New York. Suddenly, she looks like a centrist. The people coming up behind her are militant socialists, and if they represent the future, it will mark the end of the Democratic Party as a liberal party.

Citizen Vigilante: When the state stops enforcing the law

The film Citizen Vigilante is causing a stir in Germany. It portrays an ordinary citizen who takes the law into his own hands because the authorities have stopped doing so. Many people will recognise their own reality in its story. That is why the film has been completely banned in Germany. Yet it has spread across the Western world, wherever lawlessness is on the rise. It premiered in the United States on 19 May.

Norwegian media framing: “Alleged” drug smugglers taken out

Norwegian News Agency NTB reports that “two killed in a US strike on a suspected drug boat”. NTB now uses the qualifying terms “suspected” and “alleged” when referring to the drug smugglers targeted by the Americans. The news agency also, almost as a matter of routine, cites critics who describe the operations as “extrajudicial executions”.

45% say Pride takes up too much space, up from 32% in 2022

Bufdir has measured public attitudes towards Pride and LGBTQ people and does not like what it has found. The figures are therefore presented in a way that softens their impact. No effort is made to investigate why opinion is turning: could it be that Pride has assumed a prominence disproportionate to the number of LGBTQ people? The question is not even asked. Instead, attention is directed towards portraying the trend as a negative development.

Tame protest against remigration conference

A large police presence took the wind out of the demonstrators who had turned up to harass the Norway Democrats’ Remigration Conference. They were simply not allowed through and had to content themselves with shouting “no fascists in our streets”. When one sees the development in Europe, one may wonder who the real fascists are.
