The European Commission is now refusing to accept the registration of the citizens’ initiative “Save Europe Act”, which has gathered nearly 600,000 signatures in a short period.
The Union’s top bureaucrats maintain that the proposed legislation is racially discriminatory and fundamentally incompatible with “the Union’s fundamental values”.
Respect for the national identities of the EU Member States cannot be pursued by means that violate what the European Commission considers to be the EU’s fundamental values, the Commission states in its justification for rejecting the registration of the citizens’ initiative.
“Who defines what European values are? The European Commission. And now the Commission says that it is contrary to European values to want to preserve Europe as European and not to become a minority in your own homeland,” says Eva Vlaardingerbroek, the initiative’s leading figure, in a video statement.
“This is unacceptable to us. It cannot be up to them to define what European values are.”
The group is now taking the case to the Court of Justice of the European Union and is asking for continued support to reach one million signatures.
“We will fight for—and save—Europe. This is no longer just an initiative; it is a movement,” Vlaardingerbroek says.
The group’s demands to the EU primarily consist of introducing EU legislation that halts immigration from non-Western countries, removes economic pull factors such as welfare benefits that encourage increased immigration and higher taxation, ensures that the EU returns illegal and criminal migrants to their countries of origin, and reforms the current asylum and migration systems.
The European Commission rejected the registration of the @SaveEuropeAct.
