A Facebook profile with clear connections to Algeria asks Document and the newspaper’s journalist to leave Norway. “You are not welcome”, writes the man, who refers to the country as “the new Noreg”.
The comment came after Document reported on the Muslim Student Society’s invitation of the Islamist preacher Mohamad Baajour to the University of Oslo.
Baajour was recently placed on Denmark’s national sanctions list of religious preachers. The entry ban applies to the entire Schengen area. He has among other things praised martyrdom, defended amputation as punishment for theft and made harsh attacks on non-Muslims.
Document’s coverage did not go down well with the Facebook profile “Noradin Ibn Souleiman”.
– Why are you living in Norway, you and your document can get out of the new Noreg. You are not welcome, wrote the profile.
Further he claimed that Document only represents “the few losers who applaud your rubbish”.
– Not even the Progress Party will be associated with these system exploiters, he continued.
The quotations are rendered in English while retaining the profile’s original spelling and grammatical errors.

Repeated attacks
This is not the first time the profile seeks out Document’s comments field.
Under another story about Baajour he questioned why Document’s journalist is in Norway. When Document reported on the plans for a new minaret in the centre of Bodø, the profile replied that Islam is “a large part of the new Noreg”, and pointed out that Norwegian Muslims pay billions in tax.
On a third Document story he claimed that “the Progress Party is at the top when it comes to rape”.
The public activity shows that the account over a longer period has participated in Norwegian debates about Islam, immigration, Israel and the Progress Party. The account also follows several Norwegian Muslim and pro-Palestinian environments.
Clear connections to Algeria
The Facebook profile uses the name “Noradin Ibn Souleiman”, while the account’s web address contains an entirely different name: “Abdullah Hakeem”. The profile picture shows a map of Africa and not an identifiable person.
It has therefore not been possible to confirm the man’s full identity or where he lives.
The public activity shows, however, clear connections to Algeria. The profile writes in Algerian Arabic and regularly comments on local Facebook pages from the town of Mécheria in the Naâma province, in western Algeria.

In one comment he accuses the local authorities of having turned Mécheria into “a rubbish heap”. He also participates in debates on the Algerian website Algerie360.
At the same time the profile has written in Norwegian and participated in Norwegian public debates for at least three years. It is therefore possible that the man has Algerian background and lives or has lived in Norway, but this is for the time being not confirmed.
The account does not appear as a newly created robot account. The activity stretches over several years and consists of contextual comments in Norwegian, Arabic and English. Whether the name “Noradin Ibn Souleiman” is the man’s real name is, however, unknown.
Document has contacted the profile and asked whether he stands by the exhortation, and why he considers that Norwegians with long ancestral roots in Norway should leave their country. We have for the time being not received a reply.
