According to Tasnim News Agency, an Iranian state media outlet linked to the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), the IRGC pastes images of Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez onto missiles and quotes him for statements of support for the Islamic regime, before they are launched towards Israel:
– This war is not only illegal, it is also inhumane. This is followed by “thank you, Prime Minister” in English and Farsi.
– Has no effect on Sánchez
The images have been published in recent days and form part of Iran’s propaganda war against Israel. Iran is using Sánchez’s criticism of the war as a symbol of Western division.
The case has triggered a strong, polarising debate in Spain. In parliament, Sánchez was today confronted with the images, which led both to ridicule and to strong criticism of him. Several describe it as a “humiliation”, but it appears to have no effect on Sánchez.
Israeli authorities have also used the video in their criticism of Sánchez.
Sánchez has been one of the sharpest Western critics of the Israeli-American attack on Iran.
