When Støre took office, he placed his wealth in the bank in order to avoid conflicts of interest. He has now, quietly, withdrawn 50 million and placed them in funds. The question is whether the previous justification no longer applies. What has changed for Støre? Is his situation different as Prime Minister in 2020 than in 2025, the year in which the change was made.
The Prime Minister has not commented on the change, but ought to explain himself to the voters. He is leader of the Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet) and at the same time wealthy. In order to remove all doubt, he placed the money in the bank. He has now departed from this principle. Does this mean that Støre grants himself an exemption that does not apply to others? There has been a focus on a lobbying register and transparency. What Støre has done is the exact opposite.
But at the turn of the year the Prime Minister had NOK 50 million placed in funds, as shown by the 2025 accounts of his company, Femstø AS, according to E24.
Cash holdings were in the same period reduced from NOK 70.3 million to NOK 10.4 million, according to Finansavisen.
It does not appear in which funds the money is placed.
Støre simultaneously withdrew NOK 10 million in dividends last year, down from NOK 12 million the year before. Equity fell from NOK 67 million to NOK 59 million. (NTB)
