Also the mother of the three men in their twenties who are charged in connection with the terror bomb at the United States Embassy was involved and has been charged, the police state in a press release. All four live at the same address. The police request pre-trial detention (varetektsfengsling) for all four. They will be presented in turn on Friday.
– The police can confirm that an additional person has been arrested and charged in connection with the explosion at the United States Embassy. It is a woman in her fifties, and she is the mother of the three brothers, the police write in a press release.
The man who acknowledges having placed the bomb outside the United States Embassy on the night to Sunday consents to detention. This is confirmed by his defence counsel, lawyer Øystein Storrvik, to NTB. The detention hearing will take place as an office proceeding (kontorforretning) on Friday.
The mother of the three brothers is also registered at the same address as the men, where the police have made several seizures during Wednesday and Thursday.
NTB has been in contact with the woman’s defence counsel, lawyer Aase Sigmond, who does not wish to comment on the case.
The two remaining brothers and the mother will be presented for detention in Oslo tingrett (Oslo District Court) respectively at 13.00, 13.45 and 14.30.
Denies criminal guiltThe three brothers in their twenties were arrested in Oslo on Wednesday afternoon and charged with terror bombing. The police hypothesis is that one of the brothers placed a bomb outside the United States Embassy in Oslo on the night to Sunday, and that the two others participated.
The two other brothers deny criminal guilt. Lawyer Frode Sulland has previously informed NTB that his client has been questioned and does not understand the charge.
Defence counsel for the third brother, lawyer Ketil Magnus Berg, confirms to NTB that his client was questioned for many hours on Thursday, and that he denies criminal guilt.
