The terrorist who was shot and killed whilst attacking the Israeli embassy in Belgrade had been deported from Germany after planning an attack on the Jewish Museum in Munich.
It was on the night of 28 October that an 18-year-old Serb, believed to have sympathised with Islamic State (IS), was shot and killed whilst attacking the guards outside the Israeli embassy in the Serbian capital.
It has now emerged that he had been arrested in Germany and deported from there in July because he was alleged to have planned an attack on the Jewish Museum in Munich and, in connection with this, had attempted to obtain weapons, according to Public Prosecutor Sebastian Murer, speaking to Bild.
However, as the teenager had no previous convictions and was unlikely to have been sentenced to prison in Germany, the German authorities sent him home to his mother in Serbia, reports Jüdische Allgemeine.
The news raises questions about counter-terrorism preparedness in Europe.
