Document has repeatedly been asked what we mean by the term ‘deep state’. The Norwegian press seems baffled by the concept, which is well established in the American public sphere. Yet Norwegian journalists see no reason to familiarise the Norwegian public with the concept. VG made an exception when they interviewed Hans Høeg, chief of staff to Senator Thomas Massie, after the election in 24′. VG asks whether it is possible to keep Trump under control, and Høeg replies:
– There’s always a fuss about Trump, but I’m not one of those who think everything’s going to hell. There are too many of them within the ‘deep state’ who want to keep Trump under control.
Høeg believes that the real power-holders in Washington D.C. are what he calls ‘the corrupt “military-industrial-congressional complex”’.
– “It is not a malicious conspiracy; it’s simply a matter of many powerful forces with the same interests,” explains Høeg.
– Even a president has limited power, so I think there are forces in place that will prevent Trump from causing too much trouble.
Kjetil Tveit has elaborated further on why it is taboo to discuss the Norwegian deep state.
But this article is not about the corrupt military-industrial-congressional complex in the US that controls Trump. Rather, it is about the Norwegian deep state. The introduction is intended to make it crystal clear that the deep state exists, and that it is so powerful that it even determines whether we are to have peace, or preferably war, through corruption and control over the military. Preferably by attempting to control Donald Trump like a puppet.
It’s better that VG says it rather than me. The majority trust VG more. My job is to highlight the rare occasions when the mainstream media say something to give the impression that they cover the full spectrum, but which they are a little embarrassed about in hindsight.
For those in power to be able to rule the world through the deep state(s) in Western countries, they must control the media. For example, through the media they were able to promote the senile Joe Biden as a presidential candidate – who posed no threat to the deep state – and ensure that every single outlet kept quiet for four years about his senility.
Just imagine if the deep state in the US had that much power over the Norwegian press.
It wasn’t until June 2025 that they allowed Anders Magnus in *Aftenposten* to report that the press could not be trusted regarding Biden, and that they had deliberately concealed the fact that the world’s most powerful man was suffering from dementia. (2)
This is how the deep state controls the press. They ensure that the press conceals terrible things whilst they are happening, whilst afterwards they are allowed to ‘search their own consciences’ for having concealed them. The public is left with the impression that, after all, they are quite honest.
The deep state can be controlled through, for example, the US CIA.
Operation Mockingbird is an example of a secret CIA campaign that began early in the Cold War in the 1950s, the aim of which was to influence and manipulate both American and international media organisations for propaganda purposes. The network was officially disbanded (or severely curtailed) in 1976 following revelations in the US Congress (the Church Committee). (3)The Norwegian deep state and the Norwegian press
The book *Gro-gate* (written in 1996 by former State Secretary Hans Henrik Ramm and officer Johan M. Setsaas) paints a picture of extensive and deep collusion between the Labour Party, Norwegian secret services, foreign intelligence agencies (such as the CIA and Mossad) and the press. (4)In 1965, the well-known NRK personality and political commentator Per Øyvind Heradstveit received money from the Labour Party and wrote the following in a letter to the Labour Party:
‘I sincerely hope that the DNA can run a perfect election campaign, and I would be delighted if I could contribute to this. We must win this election!”. (5)
How deep is the deep state?
The question that arises is: How deep does the media’s alliance with the Labour Party go?
It is only now that I come to today’s news story, which was the one I was going to comment on. I just wanted to make sure people understood the background first.
I quote today’s article from Document:“Jo Heinum (57) is a communications adviser for the Labour Party in the Storting. For over two years, he allowed at least 795,000 kroner from the sale of sex to pass through his private bank accounts, and according to the court, he helped to make the purchase of sex more difficult to detect and more profitable.» (6)
The point is that if you search Dagens Næringsliv, TV2, Aftenposten, Nettavisen, VG, NRK or any of the other major newspapers, the Labour Party adviser is anonymised. By comparison, TV2’s covert audio recording of Progress Party (FrP) adviser Hårek Hansen was splashed across all media outlets, complete with his name and photograph, in May 2026, when he was found guilty of “racist remarks”. This means that the Labour Party’s media deep state – which protects Labour Party figures and harbours a grudge against political challengers – extends further than NRK (ARK).
It even extends to those national publications which media scholars tend to place on the right of the political spectrum: *Aftenposten*, *Dagens Næringsliv* and *Nettavisen*. They are helping the Labour Party in the next election, and making things correspondingly difficult for the Progress Party.
They are all singing from the same hymn sheet.
In a free society, it is not normal for all media outlets to be singing from the same hymn sheet.
Labour Party bigwig Gaute Skjervø clearly wants to shut down the so-called ‘alternative media’ (the free media), such as Document, iNyheter and Utenfilter.Precisely the same outlets that today revealed the name of the Labour Party adviser who was recently convicted of pimping.
The reason for wanting to shut them down, deprive them of press subsidies, or make them less visible, is that they are free.
They are not beholden to the deep state.
And if we take the VG article from 2024 seriously, the deep state is corrupt.
Surely it is not so surprising that the corrupt deep state would want to get rid of the free media, which pose a threat to corruption?
The public’s reaction must, of course, be to rally round the free media.
