A senior Iranian source told Reuters that Iran has only about two months’ worth of petrol left in its stockpiles. At that point, its ability to wage war will disappear. The source also said that Iran has to import petrol because of limited refining capacity.
The US military’s ongoing blockade of Iranian ports has halted oil exports, which are the regime’s main source of revenue, according to Reuters.
The Treasury Department last week launched «Operation Economic Outcast» against Iran, which aims to «tighten the noose and block all potential sources of revenue that finance the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian regime», according to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
Three Iranian sources told Reuters that the measures have left Iran with few remaining channels through which to obtain foreign currency and goods.
