A 17-year-old has been sentenced to eight months of youth punishment (ungdomsstraff) for robbing and assaulting a boy of the same age in Gulskogen in Drammen near Oslo, last autumn.
According to the judgment, the 17-year-old and his brother sought out a 14-year-old following an argument on Snapchat, kicked him, and took his shoes, Drammens Tidende reports.
The 17-year-old was also convicted of assaulting staff at the child welfare institution where he lives, and of making threats against the police.
It is the second time in less than a year that he has been convicted of robbery. Nevertheless, the court chose youth punishment rather than imprisonment, citing the best interests of the child. He must also pay NOK 20,000 in compensation to the victim.
The ethnicity of those involved in the case has not been disclosed.
