Disney, once the very spearhead of the global left-wing cultural industry, is changing course. The company has realised that if it is to restore its finances and retain its audience, it must rid itself of ideologically motivated activists.
New productions will focus on entertainment and traditional values – the normal is to be normalised – and will no longer seek to “educate” children in identity politics, fluid gender identity and critical race theory.
No more “politically correct” left-wing children’s entertainment
Disney has eliminated around one thousand positions linked to “inclusion” and “diversity” – DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion). For several years, these “consultants” have been engaged in deconstructing classic fairy tales in order to impose “correct” left-wing messages on children. Among other changes, the company is returning to traditional greetings such as “Ladies and Gentlemen”, “Mesdames et Messieurs”, and similar forms of address, instead of gender-neutral nonsense.
In recent years, Disney has lost billions. Films and television series driven by a woke agenda have failed spectacularly. Families have turned away – the theme parks have become less attractive – and Disney+ has haemorrhaged subscribers.
For years, Disney has been the very symbol of the global woke agenda. But now even Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse are saying enough is enough. The ideological bubble is bursting – not because the political left has developed a conscience, but because reality is pushing back.
