The last few weeks have seen the Conservative mayor of Oslo celebrating Islam, Pride, and praising the Muslim socialist Mamdani in New York. “Praising a communist is a resignation application in the Conservative Party”, “The Conservatives have lost their way and are digging their own grave,” comes the response from a generally rather uncharitable comment section to Mayor Anne Lindboe’s post in which she describes Zohran Kwame Mamdani almost as “a rock star”.
It is in a post on Facebook on 24 June that Oslo’s Conservative mayor, Anne Lindboe, boasts about what an impressive guy Zohran Kwame Mamdani is. Mamdani is the radical mayor of New York, who was elected on an Islamo-socialist platform, and who was recently seen praying to Allah in a public session with a distinctly anti-Western expression. Something Document also wrote about.
A top guy, thinks the supposedly Conservative mayor of Norway’s capital, who herself has organised several Islamic celebrations in Oslo and has invited Muslim guests to celebrate in Oslo City Hall.
Inspired by Mamdani
“Inspiring meeting with the mayor of NYC“, wrote Lindboe, adding a few words about football and Norwegian fans, since it was because of the World Cup that our tax money was used to send Oslo’s mayor to New York.
NYC is almost «little Oslo» these days, and he was mightily impressed by our football lads and Norwegian fans roaming around his streets. I also had a long working meeting with his co-commissioner for international affairs Ana María Archila. Nice to share Oslo’s experiences with the green shift, kindergarten policy, drug care and social infrastructure such as inclusive sports clubs and libraries and to hear how NYC facilitates business and entrepreneurs.
Finally, a note to those who need it. Political meetings are necessary, including with people from other party backgrounds. That does not mean one agrees politically. Being conservative does not preclude meeting a democratic socialist. Such things happen all the time both in politics and diplomacy. Now I shall return to Oslo and celebrate Pride.
Then off to Pride
Wrote Lindboe, who began the Pride celebrations as early as 2 June. At that time she at least posted a picture on Facebook of herself together with Bishop Sunniva Gylver, from the raising of a huge Pride flag in front of Oslo Cathedral. This took place on 20 June 2025, and was probably repeated this year, plus that gender ideology is now to be celebrated for a whole month. With Oslo’s Conservative mayor as one of the eager participants.
It is more uncertain whether the mosques are quite so eager to celebrate Pride. It is at least well known that school pupils, and others, from those environments are among those who tear down and/or burn Pride flags. Even though there is often not particularly much focus on such perpetrators.
Received the Quran on a mosque visit
Mayor Lindboe was in any case on yet another mosque visit on 14 June, right in the middle of Pride month. This time the trip was to the Islamic Cultural Centre Norway, and the ICC mosque was very pleased with the visit. Where they among other things got to donate the Quran to Oslo’s Conservative mayor.
“On Friday 12 June we had the honourable task of welcoming Oslo’s mayor, Anne Lindboe, to the ICC mosque at Grønland. An important dialogue meeting was held where we spoke openly about the worrying development linked to increasing extremism in our city. For us at ICC it is crucial to contribute to a safe, inclusive and united Oslo, and such cooperation with the city’s leadership means an enormous amount. As a token of gratitude and bridge-building, the ICC board chair presented a Norwegian translation of the Quran to the mayor. Thank you for the visit, Anne Lindboe – we look forward to further cooperation for a safe capital!”
Many Norwegians perhaps consider Norway’s capital and other cities and places safer before we were blessed with Islam through asylum immigration and the like. But Lindboe perhaps thinks it is more important that Islam’s presence feels safely placed in Norway.
Lindboe in league with Antifa and Sofia Rana
Anne Lindboe is in any case not pleased with those who might criticise the Islamisation of Norway, and who actually highlight the Refugee Convention’s main principle of remigration when the need for asylum is over. For on Friday 12 June she participated in a demonstration against political opponents. That is to say against the party Norway’s Democrats, against the Remigration Conference they organised, and against guests from the AfD party, which is currently Germany’s largest.
According to Sofia Rana, who organised the counter-demonstration together with ex-Communist party “Rødt” and the Antiracist Centre, and Oslo’s Conservative mayor, people with opinions other than their own should not be allowed to have a voice, or enjoy freedom of speech and freedom of assembly under the Constitution.
“Today I was at Grønland (edit.: migrant-rich Oslo neighbourhood) to show support for the local community after Norway’s Democrats and AfD had announced an ‘inspection’ in our neighbourhood,” wrote Anne Lindboe about the event on Facebook on 12 June.
And further:
Grønland is not a backdrop for political stunts. It is a living neighbourhood, full of people with different backgrounds who live, work, run shops and go to school here. Many have expressed that they find such demonstrations unpleasant and stigmatising. I understand that. That is why it was important for me as mayor to be present and show that Oslo stands up for everyone who calls this area their home. What makes Oslo strong is precisely our diversity. We shall stand up against right-wing extremism, racism, antisemitism and hatred of gays. This is important in a time when polarisation is increasing and human rights are under pressure. In Oslo everyone shall be safe. Thank you to everyone who turned up today for our city and our community.
Prominent ex-Communist party “Rødt” MP Sofia Rana is among those who praise the post, with a brown fist and a big heart. Something Mayor Lindboe reciprocates with both a Like heart plus a big heart. It is not the first time these two have worked together against those who want to preserve as much as possible of Oslo and Norway, but they have an obviously friendly tone and cooperation.
Much criticism of Lindboe’s praise of Mamdani
Not everyone recognises the Conservative Party in Oslo’s current Conservative mayor, and in Lindboe’s post about the meeting with Mamdani there are probably several hundred disgruntled people in the comment section. Some examples:
Anne Lindboe confirms with this post what I have known for a long time, namely that the Conservatives are Labour lite! Voted Conservative for many years, but that is over. Now I vote FrP! writes one.
Lives daily in Nassau County on Long Island NY which is half an hour from Manhattan. What Mamdani and his administration are doing to NYC is frightening to put it mildly, writes another.
Learn from Mamdani “how NYC facilitates business and entrepreneurs”? Has this account been hacked? asks Andreas, while Geir wonders whether it is lack of knowledge or cynical morality that is Lindboe’s biggest challenge, “but Zohran Kwame Mamdani is the closest one comes to a pro-Islamist antisemite in American top politics”.
Praising a communist is a resignation application in the Conservative Party. You are dragging your party through the mud and should leave before someone else does it for you, writes Eirik Reppen, economist and author.
Some are also positive, but they are few and far between. Fakhra Salimi is one of them. She once came as a student from Pakistan, and has run NGOs in Norway since, and writes: Mamdani “is a shining example that diversity is not dangerous, what is dangerous is bad economic and social policy, a policy that strengthens the rich and creates poverty.”
There are probably differing opinions about how good a role model the Muslim socialist who governs New York is for little Norway, but for socialists, communists and Islamists he tends to be a role model. And for a Norwegian mayor from the Conservative Party. She also participated in the action to prevent freedom of speech for Norway’s Democrats in 2025:
Ordfører Anne Lindboe (H) takker Antifa-aktivist Sofia Rana: – Her bor det mennesker som blir såra
