An imam in Texas calls Zoran Mamdani’s victory in the New York mayoral election “a civilisational milestone” and highlights Sweden and Norway as role models for an Islamic takeover of politics and nations.

During a talk at what is reported on social media to be an Islamic centre in Texas, the speaker expresses his views on the newly elected mayor of New York:
– It’s a game changer. We need someone like Mamdani as mayor of New York, and it’s a victory for the ummah.
Ummah refers to the Islamic congregational community, where the stated goal of Islam is for the entire world to constitute one ummah.
The path to this worldwide ummah, the imam believes, is to increase the number of Muslims in non-Muslim countries. He laments the fact that the proportion of Muslims in the US is still relatively low, but at the same time he highlights a number of countries in Europe as promising examples of how Muslims are well on their way to taking over entire societies and nations.
“This is just in this country. Across the Western world, the percentage is rising to a point that terrifies them. Sweden: Ten per cent Muslims. Oslo, Norway: Ten per cent Muslims. Oslo, of all places. Vienna.
– The Ottoman Turks tried for 200 years, they couldn’t do anything. Vienna is ten per cent Muslim. England. In London it’s an estimated 20 per cent. I was in Australia a year and a half ago. Australia, Sydney. There are districts the size of half of Austin that are 60 per cent Muslim.
To achieve the same percentage in the US, the imam mentions the importance of lobbying, money and political pressure.
