New York’s governor joins the ranks of Western women who bow to Islam and set feminism aside to please Muslim men.
I used the word «mystery» in the headline because I simply cannot understand why.
Yes, I understand political correctness and that politicians capitulate to Islam because they want to secure votes. But it is still a mystery.
Decades of struggle for women’s rights and equality are thrown out of the window to please the most misogynistic group of men in the world.
Men who follow a doctrine that treats women and children exactly as they did 1,400 years ago.
Do Kathy Hochul, Peggy Flanagan and Amalie Gunnufsen really not see how utterly absurd this is?

Do they not see the contrast with the women in Iran who risk their lives because they refuse to submit to the compulsory hijab requirement? Do they not see what happened to Mahsa Amini?
They cannot see it. And that is perhaps the most remarkable thing of all.
For Hochul, Flanagan and Gunnufsen are not alone. They are merely three of millions of Western women who, in various ways, bow to Islam and Muslim men.
It Was Only a Scarf, After All
Governor Hochul faced massive criticism from conservatives this week after she wore a «hijab scarf» during a visit to the Islamic Cultural Center of New York.
Especially because it is 25 years since 11 September, and the anniversary is fast approaching.
And now, more than two decades after the worst terrorist attack in history, Muslims at the ICC mark their territory by publicly broadcasting the call to prayer on Fridays, during Ramadan and on special occasions.

There is no doubt that Mayor Mamdani will eventually relax the regulations and permit the call to prayer every day, both day and night, as they do in Minneapolis.
Since Hochul has given in to Mamdani’s unreasonable demands, she will surely support that too.
Hochul herself received support from the left in the hijab controversy, even from the liberal fact-checker Snopes, America’s answer to Faktisk.no. «It was only a scarf, after all».

Hochul spoke during the weekly Friday prayer, Jummah, the New York Post writes.
She extended greetings to His Excellency Tareq Albanai and thanked him for welcoming her so that she could become part of the family.

What would His Excellency have done if she had entered the mosque without a hijab? Got rid of her, as they did with Mahsa Amini?
Perhaps Kathy Hochul ought to acquaint herself a little with what actually happens when the Islamists come to power before she turns up with her head covered and gives thanks for being allowed to become part of the family.
Does she even know what happened to the socialists in Iran after the ayatollahs took power? Those who had helped overthrow the Shah were themselves persecuted, imprisoned and executed.
Once, something like this was called «Stockholm syndrome». What should we call this? Islamic submission syndrome?
Riley Gaines: Oh, the irony
Kathy Hochul was quickly met with fierce criticism from conservatives, who accused her of bowing to Islam and Muslim men.
Swimmer and women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines wrote on social media: – A self-proclaimed feminist voluntarily wearing a hijab so as not to offend or attract sexual attention from Muslim men. Oh, the irony.
Republican Congressman Brandon Gill of Texas accused the Democrats of hypocrisy and described how the Democrats accuse Republicans of sexism and of turning America into The Handmaid’s Tale.
That is the world in which women are subordinate and expected to adapt to a religiously conservative system. The Democrats themselves do precisely that in reality when confronted with Islam.
Others pointed out that the visit took place only weeks before the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001.
Among them was Ben Shapiro: – 25 years after 11 September, New York’s governor puts on a hijab, and New York City’s mayor believes that people spontaneously caught fire on 11 September. Well done, New Yorkers!
Shapiro was referring to previous statements Mayor Zohran Mamdani has made about the anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Snopes to the Rescue
The left-wing fact-checker Snopes found it necessary to confirm that Kathy Hochul did in fact cover her head when she spoke at a mosque in New York City.
But as with Faktisk.no, the fact-check itself does not appear to be the most important thing for Snopes.
Rather, it is about lecturing readers and giving them a little lesson, admittedly of the left-wing variety.
In this case, it is important to make clear that it was not a hijab, but merely a scarf.

Hochul was not wearing a traditional hijab, which is a way of life that involves practicing modesty, covering the head and all the hair.
So everything must be all right, then. It was not a hijab after all. Just Kathy Hochul covering her hair. A perfectly ordinary fashion statement for the modern woman, we are to believe.
No Respect for Our Customs
The conservative commentator Megyn Kelly, however, has a completely different view of the matter from Snopes.
In her monologue, she asks a question to which we all know the answer: Do they show the same respect for our customs?
Do they come into our societies and take off their hijabs because they are in America or Norway, to show respect for us?
I cannot think of a single instance, either in the United States or Norway, and neither can Megyn Kelly. – They do not. They do whatever they themselves want, she says.
Why should feminist leaders on the left, such as Hochul and AOC, cover their hair so as not to offend Muslims at an Islamic centre, when Muslims do not appear particularly concerned with respecting our customs?
Megyn Kelly says that she would not be caught dead wearing a hijab, either inside an Islamic centre or anywhere else.
And so we return to Kathy Hochul, Peggy Flanagan and Amalie Gunnufsen.
Three Western women who, in different ways, have chosen to adapt to Islam and Muslim men. At the same time, women in Iran risk their lives to avoid doing precisely that. They are caught by the morality police and end up dead.
Like Mahsa Amini and thousands of other Iranian women.
It is this contrast that I cannot understand.
And Hochul, Flanagan and Gunnufsen are hardly the last. As Islam occupies an ever greater place in Western societies, we will see many more politicians and so-called feminist leaders doing the same.
They will call it respect. Tolerance. Diversity. It was only a scarf, after all.
I still call it a mystery.
