Germany, Europe’s most populous and until recently most economically prosperous country, is in the process of abolishing democracy and replacing it with a dictatorship. The last time this happened, in 1933, it led to World War II and 50 million people died. This time, too, the result will be war – the war of those in power against their own people.

On Friday, Germany’s internal espionage organisation, the Bundesverfassungsschutz, which reports directly to the Ministry of the Interior, issued an announcement that means the Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party will now be designated as a far-right group. The new designation will allow state agents to monitor the party’s meetings and eavesdrop on its communications.

So far, the AfD has not been banned, but it’s probably only a matter of time before that happens. More than a hundred members of the Bundestag have already spoken out in favour of a ban.

Bundesverfassungsschutz openly states that the reason for the labelling is AfD’s opposition to mass immigration, especially Muslim immigration, which the agency describes as “incompatible with the free democratic order”. The spy agency points to the «ongoing agitation against refugees and migrants» as «spreading fear against this group of people».

Bundesverfassungsschutz’s announcement comes in the wake of the AfD’s success in February’s federal election, which made the Alternative für Deutschland the largest opposition party in the Bundestag. The party’s rise is linked to widespread public anger over continued mass immigration and a series of terrorist attacks carried out by so-called asylum seekers from mainly Muslim countries.

The next step on the road to repression is likely to be a ban on public employment for AfD members and sympathisers. According to the newspaper Bild, the states of Hesse and Bavaria are already investigating whether such a ban could be implemented.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is equally clear: “This is not democracy, it’s tyranny in disguise.” He continues: “What’s really extremist is not the popular AfD, but instead the establishment’s deadly open borders policy, which the AfD opposes. Germany should change course.

The latest attack on democracy is further proof that Europe’s ruling class is simply determined to continue decades of pro-Islamic policies by any means necessary. Any nationally-minded party will be crushed, because those in power are unhappy with their own people and therefore want to replace them with someone else.
