Gianni Infantino has enjoyed a good relationship with Trump. That now comes at a cost. Democrat Jamie Raskin has summoned Infantino to testify before Congress and is demanding answers to a series of questions. He is requesting correspondence and visitor logs. The Democrats intend to subject Infantino to the same methods they have refined against Trump. The Democrats are preparing for a final reckoning with Trump—should they return to power.
Infantino is under no obligation to appear. Raskin and the Democrats have no authority over him. At least for now. The Republicans hold the majority. But the move is intended as a warning to everyone who cooperates with Trump. Even the president of FIFA is expected to stand to attention. It is the language of power that the Democrats have cultivated for a long time, and now that avowed communists are advancing, it says something about where the Democrats are heading.
The United States may come to experience legal proceedings reminiscent of the Moscow Trials of the 1930s. This is happening at the same time as support for the Democrats remains low, while the vanguard—the radicalised minority—is surging ahead. Just as with the Bolsheviks in Russia.
The Athletic has obtained a copy of the letter sent on Sunday to FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) and its president, Gianni Infantino.
In it, Raskin asks FIFA to hand over all documents relating to contacts between FIFA and Trump in recent years. Raskin also wants an overview of all benefits Trump and his administration received during the World Cup period, including possible “transfers of money, gifts and awards”. The letter sets a deadline of 9 August.
As NTB notes, this is consistent with the views expressed by Lise Klaveness. She is no admirer of Trump either.
Infantino’s relationship with Trump in recent years has received extensive media coverage. Many, including the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF), are highly critical of Trump having received a newly established peace prize from FIFA in December. The NFF has announced that it will file a complaint with FIFA’s Ethics Committee over the matter.
No case is too small to be inflated. The aim is to make an example of it.
The complaint will also address the case in which United States forward Folarin Balogun escaped suspension following a red card during the World Cup. It later emerged that Trump had telephoned FIFA in an attempt to have Balogun declared eligible to play in the Round of 16.
FIFA has insisted that Trump’s involvement had no influence on the decision that was made.
The Europeans are fully on board.
– UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), the NFF and many others reacted with great concern when FIFA reversed the decision to suspend Balogun during the World Cup. The NFF will pursue this matter following the World Cup, and at the next meeting of the NFF board we will decide how to proceed, Football President Lise Klaveness recently told NTB.
Raskin is rattling the Democrats’ weapon: access to visitor logs. The Biden administration kept visitor logs hidden. Certain visits were not even recorded. When Republicans have sought access to voter rolls and voting data, the Democrats have refused.
No Democrats have been arrested; they have not even been subpoenaed. That in itself is a demonstration of power which Republican voters observe with both astonishment and anger.
In the letter to FIFA, Raskin has requested visitor logs for FIFA’s offices in Miami and New York covering the entire period the organisation has leased the premises in connection with the World Cup. He has also requested that communications between FIFA employees and the Trump administration be preserved.

A struggle over the institutions is under way. Infantino has been mentioned as a possible future Secretary-General of the United Nations.
What is certain is that the Democrats have merged with the administrative state in the United States and are inseparable from it. Together they have created a system in which money circulates to their own NGOs. USAID was exposed as corrupt and has therefore been dismantled. Norwegian taxpayers are not told this. NORAD probably functions in much the same way. One indication is the consulting companies established by former employees that have been awarded contracts without competitive tendering.
The progressive side, in alliance with bureaucrats, has quietly appropriated the state. In Norway, the state accounts for 60 per cent of the economy, meaning that it also dominates society. This is reflected in the fact that “voluntary Norway” has likewise become an important arena to bring under control. Hence the struggle over sport.
This octopus is called the deep state. It has attempted to kill Trump three times in the space of one year. That is a historical record.
Its preferred weapon is the weaponisation of state institutions.
That is why Raskin’s letter is a warning of what lies ahead if the Democrats return to power.
Raskin himself is a sleazebag, a slimeball, who lies without batting an eyelid.
