In the last month alone, Document has had 10 million views on Facebook – while at the same time growing by 3,000 new followers. The figures show that steadily more people are finding their way to Document through social media.
For comparison, Nettavisen increased by 1,500 followers and iNyheter by 437 on Facebook during the same period. Measured against the size of the pages (Nettavisen has 334,100 followers and iNyheter 60,000), this means that Document grew around five times faster than iNyheter and more than seven times faster than Nettavisen!
Document now has 88,500 followers on Facebook, 57,400 on TikTok, 32,600 on Instagram, 12,600 on X and 10,900 on YouTube, and steadily more people are finding their way to us through social media.
Our youngest followers are found on TikTok. Here we already have 57,400 followers compared with Nettavisen’s 109,400 and iNyheter’s 9,285. Young people experience reality firsthand, unfortunately often quite literally. They are not interested in NRK’s or the politicians’ excuses and explanations, because they see what they see.
We are also seeing the same development on Instagram; Document is growing faster than the competitors.
These figures concern more than algorithms and statistics. Behind them stand people who read, share, comment on and support what we do every day. Every view, every share and every new follower helps to make Document stronger.
We also notice that steadily more people are moving away from a media reality in which the same politically correct angles and the same narratives are repeated again and again. Many experience that important questions receive too little attention, that uncomfortable topics are toned down, or that the space for debate is becoming ever narrower. With us, readers find analyses, journalism and commentary that challenge the consensus and describe reality as it is – especially when it is uncomfortable.
The development also gives energy internally within the editorial office. When we see that steadily more people follow our work and find their way to our articles, it gives us renewed inspiration and motivation to work even harder. We notice the enthusiasm every day, and it makes us even more motivated to continue developing Document.
At the same time, it is important to emphasise that the core of what we do remains our online newspaper: Document.no. It is here that the journalism is published, it is here that our subscribers gather, and it is here that readers find our full content. Social media are first and foremost a route into the newspaper – and much of the growth is also due to you, our own subscribers and readers, sharing the articles further. In this way, steadily new people find their way to Document. Many thanks for helping Document to grow!
