The hate preacher Mohamad Baajour will after all not appear at the University of Oslo on Friday 21 August. The leadership at UiO puts its foot down against the event, which was organised by the Muslim Student Society. Not because Baajour is regarded as an extremist, with an entry ban to Denmark and the entire Schengen area, but because tickets were sold for the event.
Recently added to the list of hate preachers
Mohamad Baajour, or Ustadh Mohamed Baajour, as he is also called, is quite newly added to the Danish list of hate preachers who are refused entry to the country. Baajour, a Lebanese with a base in the USA, landed on the list on 14 August 2026 and is refused entry to Denmark and the entire Schengen area. In the first instance for two years from then. Norway is part of Schengen.
But that made no impression on the leadership at the University of Oslo, which according to statements does not care what Baajour goes about with of messages, but refuses him for other reasons.
– We became aware today that this event broke with our guidelines for the lending of premises to student organisations. It turned out that a commercial actor was involved in the event, and that a ticket charge was demanded. The event will therefore not take place in our premises, says the rector at the university, Ragnhild Hennum, to Nettavisen.
The tickets for the event were to cost 130 kroner.
“Cancelled”
The Muslim student organisation, which is one of many Muslim student organisations in Norway, has posted a poster with “cancelled” on Instagram with the following comment:
“Owing to unforeseen circumstances we see ourselves unfortunately obliged to cancel the event that was to take place tomorrow, 21 August. We sincerely apologise for the short notice and for any inconvenience this may cause. We greatly appreciate your understanding, patience and support. Further details and information will be communicated as soon as possible. We ask for a little patience and thank you for your understanding.”
The University of Oslo has for many years discussed back and forth whether they should boycott Israel, wholly or partially. In March 2026 there was once again a no to an academic boycott of the Jews’ only country. At that time the board at UiO had debated how they should relate to Israel’s warfare in Gaza in no fewer than six previous board meetings since February 2024.
The board continued and established after the meeting in March this year that the university shall not have overarching institutional agreements with Israeli universities.

Islamist forces are possibly an entirely different matter.
Baajour defends amputation of a hand as punishment for theft, and has no taste at all for so-called kaffirs, that is to say non-Muslims, which most Norwegians are. To mention something of what he stands for.
Document has previously written that Muslims have their own student associations all over Norway that appear to live in a parallel reality, with gender segregation, halal, hijab and the whole lot. They even have their own freshers’ week, so that Muslim students shall not risk receiving any non-Muslim impulses.
