Sunday, federal agents spotted a man walking around the Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles carrying a camera and conducting reconnaissance. He took photographs from several different angles. He was carrying ammunition, and a loaded pistol was found in his car. Trump had announced that he would arrive on Tuesday. It is difficult to identify any motive other than that the man was planning an assassination attempt – the fourth in succession.
Federal authorities did not announce the arrest until Tuesday. That in itself has attracted attention.
They have since searched the man’s home and seized material described as startling.
It was on a golf course in Florida that Ryan Routh lay in wait with a rifle protruding through the perimeter fence. An alert Secret Service agent saved Trump’s life.
