Pope Leo XIV marks the US national day by criticising the country’s lack of willingness to accept so-called refugees.
The Pope marked the USA’s 250th anniversary on Lampedusa, “by praying for refugees who lost their lives in the search for freedom”, writes NTB-AFP-AP.
The Pope has long been critical of President Donald Trump’s tightening of immigration policy in the USA. That is why he is marking the US national day on Lampedusa – an Italian Mediterranean island that has been the epicentre of the massive flow of migrants across the Mediterranean.
The vast majority of these migrants are not real refugees. For the most part they are seeking out Western countries in order to improve their economic situation by receiving social benefits financed by us taxpayers.
While the USA is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with parades and fireworks, the first American-born Pope has travelled to the island to honour the tens of thousands of people who have perished in the hope of a better life.
– Europe is capable of handling the crisis in this region in a comprehensive way by implementing immediate emergency measures and a long-term strategic plan that can receive, protect, support and integrate migrants, the Pope said in a sermon on the island on Saturday.
But wishing for a better and more prosperous life gives no right to either asylum or refugee status.
The Pope held a silent Mass at a cemetery for nameless refugees on the island, with prayer and the laying of flowers.
Once again: The majority are not refugees but economic migrants.
The Pope: The USA was founded by immigrants
On the occasion of the USA’s 250th anniversary the Pope wrote a letter to his home country in which he claimed that the USA itself is a country founded by immigrants.
The Pope writes that protecting all human life also means “welcoming, protecting and helping immigrants, whose hopes, sacrifices and contributions have been part of this country’s history from the very beginning”.
– To receive them with compassion and generosity is not only an act of love, but also an acknowledgement of the dignity that belongs to every human being, he writes.
But people from, among others, Europe went to the USA as settlers, and built up the world’s richest country with blood, sweat and tears. They received no support from American authorities and had to manage on their own. Settlers cannot be compared with the parasites who arrive in the West today, who live off our money and show their “gratitude” with massive crime and in the worst case terrorist attacks and sheer hatred of those who support them.
– The Pope’s presence sends a clear message at a time when the global political debate on migration often revolves around borders and deterrent measures, rather than protection and shared responsibility, said Filippo Ungaro, spokesman for the UN refugee organisation UNHCR.
Immigration activists are constantly expanding the concept of refugees and now include people fleeing from the alleged climate crisis and poverty.
Moreover they completely ignore the original principle of asylum and refugee policy that was adopted after the Second World War: As soon as peace is restored in the country one has fled from, one shall be returned.
But in today’s Europe activists and the media consider remigration to be a mixture of racism, fascism and Nazism. Such attitudes are almost universally supported by politicians on the left.
Introduces return centres outside the EU
The population in the West is beginning to have enough of the flow of MENA people who are destroying our countries’ safety, cohesion and economy. Two weeks ago the EU adopted a new framework for immigration and asylum.
This can among other things lead to stricter border controls and to asylum seekers being sent to return centres in countries outside the EU.
At the same time Europe is experiencing a wave of aversion to parties on the right, including several that have stopping immigration and remigration established in their party programmes, something supported by a majority of Europeans.
But politicians who can never get enough immigration cling to power and try to inflict as much damage as possible on the West for as long as they have the opportunity. They have no problem with the fact that women and children are among those hardest hit.
Behind this development stand corrupt international bodies with the UN at the forefront, often in close cooperation with non-governmental organisations, anti-racists and groups such as Open Society, created by the immensely rich George Soros.
All of these are blessed by the Pope, who appears to ignore that the Vatican is surrounded by high walls.
