The toilet at the Bukkekjerka rest area on Andøya has been closed for security policy reasons. The toilet overlooks Andøya Spaceport.
An astonishing NOK 20 million was spent building the rest area, with toilets designed in such a way that one has an ocean view from floor to ceiling from the inside. From the outside, the walls are mirror-polished to prevent visibility into the structure, writes VG.
– As regards the closure of the Bukkekjerka rest area, this is a choice we have had to make because of today’s security policy situation and increased activity in the area, writes Silje Myhre Amundsen of National Tourist Routes in an e-mail to Vesterålen Online (VOL).
This is reminiscent of the famous diving tower by Lake Mjøsa, which was originally supposed to cost NOK 1.5 million, but ended up costing more than NOK 25 million.
