Trump does not conceal his disappointment with allies who are not coming to assistance in the Strait of Hormuz. He says this will have consequences for relations. He is particularly disappointed with Keir Starmer, because of the special relationship that has existed between the United Kingdom and the United States. Everything was fine until Starmer appeared, says Trump.
“I am disappointed with NATO. We have spent trillions of dollars on NATO – think of it, trillions over the years, many trillions of dollars.
“That is one of the reasons we have deficits. We help other countries, while they do not help us. I mean, it is absolutely something we should think about.
“I do not need Congress to make that decision. As you probably know, I can make that decision myself and work with some very smart people, and I will in any case always deal with Congress, but I do not need Congress for that decision.”
No European ally has shown willingness to step up for the United States. Trump says that this will not be forgotten.
The distance between Trump and a hawk such as Lindsey Graham is gone. Graham supports the president and says he has never seen him so angry.
Donald Trump has “never been so angry”, after European countries refused to contribute to securing the Strait of Hormuz, according to a senior Republican.
Lindsey Graham, a prominent Iran hawk, claimed that unnamed countries had shown “arrogance” in connection with the war, which made the American president furious.
Graham said: “I have just spoken with the president about our European allies’ lack of willingness to make resources available to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my entire life. I share that anger, in light of what is at stake.”
Trump writes on TruthSocial that he does not need any help from allies. They will do the job themselves.
He is furious with the media that cover the war in an unfair manner, and attempt to present it as if the United States is struggling.
Donald Trump has launched a fierce attack on the BBC’s “corrupt” and “fraudulent” coverage of the war in Iran.
The American president said that the broadcaster’s coverage of the conflict was “truly criminal”.
He said to journalists in the White House: “I watched them [the BBC] this morning for some crazy reason, and it was so inaccurate. Their reporting on the war was incredible.
“We have crushed that country. And if you look at the BBC, it is almost as if they are fighting for the war to end in a draw. We are not fighting for a draw. It was very inaccurate news.
“It was fake news. I am very proud of the term fake news, because it is my term. It was my invention, but it is no longer accurate. It is corrupt, fraudulent news. That is what it really is. It is fraudulent. It is not just false, it is more than false, it is simply criminal.”
