Net immigration in 2025 amounted to 22,324 persons, reports Statistics Norway (Statistisk sentralbyrå, SSB).
– There were 10,800 fewer immigrations than the year before. Among other things, there were 7,500 fewer Ukrainian citizens who moved to the country, says Senior Adviser Magnus Haug at SSB.
The number of Ukrainians is declining, but the “others” remain, i.e. people from the so-called MENAPT countries, the Middle East, Pakistan and Turkey. In addition come the Maghreb countries and Africa.
22,324 people correspond to a medium-sized Norwegian town. If SSB were to calculate how many that would amount to over 50 years, the discussion would be different.
SSB registered 55,243 persons who immigrated to Norway in 2025, while 32,919 persons emigrated.
