While everyone else stood in silence during the minute’s silence, the group of girls wearing hijabs remained seated on the ground, giggling with their hands covering their mouths.
Before the match between Norway and Brazil was due to begin, a minute’s silence was held in the fan zone in memory of Christian Zedig, the Swedish police officer who was only 32 years old. He was killed by an African man after celebrating Erling Braut Haaland’s winning goal against Ivory Coast.
The African man had previously been charged with assault and rape, and had been convicted of attempted murder. Nevertheless, he was allowed entry into Denmark.
According to several witnesses, a gang of African men stomped Zedig to death.
The minute’s silence was filmed by TV 2 and clearly showed people standing respectfully and remaining silent throughout the commemoration. But then the camera suddenly pans to a group of young women wearing hijabs. It shows them choosing to remain seated on the ground, covering their mouths and clearly giggling.
Clips circulating on social media show how TV 2 first broadcast the footage of the girls wearing hijabs before subsequently editing them out.
You can watch the video yourself here:
The video shows a total of five girls wearing hijabs remaining seated, covering their faces, with several of them clearly laughing. Meanwhile, others stand respectfully with their heads bowed to honour the murdered police officer and father of two young daughters.

Christian Zedig was only 32 years old. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
