Trump has gone to war against the cartels, but instead of explaining the background – that the cartels have become global actors that kill hundreds of thousands, destroy millions and constitute a major economic power – the media choose to cast suspicion on Trump’s methods. They believe he should have brought in the boats and brought the smugglers to justice.
They are in line with those who said that al-Qaida should have been brought out of Afghanistan and brought to justice.
Trump recently said that Mexico has become a narco-state. That is part of the explanation for the hard methods. The USA cannot have a narco-state as a neighbour.
The cartels have something in common with the Democrats: inexhaustible resources. But the population in Latin America and Central America is on Trump’s side. Narco-states are not good societies to live in. The best die; those who dare to stand up for law and justice. The others become part of the corruption.
Norway’s state broadcaster NRK has used the World Cup to slander and defame Trump. The journalists are unable to put two and two together. Or they are not allowed to. NRK’s Kolstadbråten did a report from Mexico. 130,000 people have disappeared. The state does not look for them. The search is left to the relatives.
The NRK journalist is on a trip to an abandoned house. They break in there, and find skulls and buried skeletons. That is what it is like to live in a narco-state, but Kolstadbråten is unable to connect these finds to Trump’s war against the cartels.
Europe does not want to see the dangers. The warning lights have been flashing for a long time. There have been many such reports:
The French navy has seized nearly ten tonnes of cocaine on a fishing boat off the coast of West Africa, French authorities state.
The two French naval vessels made the seizure based on tips from both drug and maritime intelligence authorities and British police on Monday morning, the authorities in France’s northwestern Atlantic maritime region state.
There was a crew of six on the 20-metre-long wooden boat, which sank during the operation. All six are handed over to French police, says state prosecutor Stephane Kellenberger in the port city of Brest.
– In total 9.6 tonnes of cocaine, with a street value of 519 million euros, were seized from the boat, the authorities state.
The nationality of the crew on the fishing boat has not been stated. The boat was not registered in any country, and it is assumed that it was heading for Europe.
Since the turn of the year the French navy has seized 54 tonnes of cocaine in the Atlantic and Pacific, an increase from 47 tonnes last year. (NTB)
This happened in September 2025. Here it is not a matter of ordinary mafia. Only the cartels have the resources to risk billions. The reason is obviously that most shipments succeed.
With its resolute methods, Trump is sending a message to the cartels: “This is what happens to you. Our resources are infinitely greater than yours, and we shall take you by the throat.”
Europe has problems with violence, even when it is a declared war.
Drugs are a form of warfare. China is waging war against the USA with fentanyl, and Trump is the first to do something about it. Fentanyl killed 70,000 Americans – annually.
2.7 tonnes of cocaine seized in Australia.
Australian authorities have seized cocaine worth 816 million Australian dollars in what is described as the country’s largest cocaine seizure ever.
On Monday Australian authorities state that they have seized 2,700 kilograms of cocaine hidden in underground bunkers on a property near Sydney.
The cocaine is estimated to have a street value of 816 million dollars or 5.5 billion kroner and was hidden in plastic containers concealed under false floors in three shipping containers. It is described as Australia’s largest cocaine seizure ever.
Two men aged 21 and 25 have been arrested after attempting to flee the scene on foot. Both are charged with possession of drugs for resale, which can carry a life sentence.
According to Australian police the cocaine was smuggled into Australia in northern Queensland before it was transported to Sydney on the orders of an organised criminal group. The investigation of the network is still ongoing. (NTB)
Quantities of this size require a large organisation. The two who escaped are completely uninteresting. This was on 22 June. The cartels are global.
Even the UN registers that drugs are a growth industry.
Cocaine production and seizures of methamphetamine are at a historic high after the heroin supply plunged in 2023, according to a new UN report.
The UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) warns of a sharp increase in new substances filling the gap after the collapse in the heroin supply. This emerges in their annual worldwide drug report, which was published on Friday.
There are reports of a sharp increase in synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl or nitazenes, replacing heroin. The last time they examined cocaine production, in 2024, it had increased to around 4,100 tonnes of pure product, a quadrupling since 2014. Seizures of methamphetamine suggest that production is growing by 13 per cent per year, UNODC states.
For a long time opium from Afghanistan dominated the supply on the European market for illicit drugs. In 2023 it plunged because the Taliban banned opium cultivation, which is used in the manufacture of heroin.
– We have seen an unprecedented rise in new substances on the market, and some of them are more potent or dangerous than before, says UNODC director Monica Juma in a statement.
Data from those receiving treatment for drug use also indicate a strong increase in crack cocaine use in Western and Central Europe over the last decade. (NTB)
Instead of criminalisation and strict penalties, politicians want decriminalisation and claim that it is not the same as legalisation. In practice it is precisely that.
