The County Governor (Statsforvalter) of Møre og Romsdal, Else-May Norderhus (Labour Party), has tasked County Medical Officer (fylkeslege) Karin Müller Mikaelsen with initiating an investigation into Rodgeir Vinsrygg, who has been a leading figure in the effort to shed light on what happened when Shada Barghouthi died at a child welfare institution in Stavanger in August 2019.
Mikaelsen tells VG that they will “examine” the case thoroughly. The headline uses the words “initiate investigations”. VG and Faktisk.no have together “investigated” Rodgeir Vinsrygg and his team for a long time. They have presented a series of articles claiming to refute everything that Vinsrygg and his team have put forward. VG/Faktisk.no use expressions suggesting that they have “spread” false stories and describe them as conspiracy theories.
On Wednesday, it was Minister of Children and Families Lene Vågslid who was interviewed by Marie Golimo Kingsrød, the most active of the journalists. Progress Party (FrP) representative Liv Gustavsen has submitted two questions in the Storting concerning the Shada case. Vågslid chooses to describe it as conspiracy theories having “penetrated all the way into the Storting”. In doing so, she casts suspicion on a Member of Parliament’s concern about conditions within the child welfare system.
Both Vågslid and VG insinuate that “this is not something we can accept”.
They are targeting Vinsrygg, and between the lines it is insinuated that Vinsrygg may perhaps lose his licence.
– On Wednesday, we sent a letter to the doctor informing him that we have initiated a supervisory case against him, says County Medical Officer of Møre og Romsdal, Karin Müller Mikaelsen.
Vinsrygg has been central to a number of child welfare cases. VG does not mention this. They portray him almost as a charlatan.
That the County Governor, with a Labour Party background, is now entering the scene may appear to be a commissioned undertaking.
There are indications pointing in an entirely different direction, and which confirm that the story about Shada may be true, but neither VG nor Faktisk.no report them.
As a result, their series of articles appears to be a commissioned undertaking.
