Maureen Galindo (D) wants to enter Congress. There she intends to work for American Zionists to be sent to the same camps as illegal migrants awaiting deportation. She also advocates the castration of paedophiles and believes this applies to many Zionists.
In an Instagram post last week, Maureen Galindo said she would turn the “Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE employees who have engaged in human trafficking”.
“It will also become a centre for the castration of paedophiles, which will probably apply to most Zionists,” Galindo wrote, while referring to herself in the third person.
Galindo’s opponent is Johnny Garcia in the primary election taking place on 26 May in the 35th district, which was recently redistricted.
In other social media posts, Galindo has accused Garcia – a former hostage negotiator and public information officer at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office – of wanting “Jews and Mexicans in warehouses”. She also accused “billionaire Zionists” of controlling the human trafficking networks in San Antonio and South Texas.
During an appearance on Texas Public Radio last week, Galindo rejected accusations of antisemitism while simultaneously confirming her opposition to “Zionist Jews”.
The boundary markers for what one may say have clearly shifted. But Democrats take liberties that would never be tolerated among Republican candidates.
“I am not antisemitic. In fact, my last serious relationship was with a Jewish man,” Galindo said, according to The Times of Israel. “I am against Zionist Jews. When I said that the Jews who own Hollywood are behind this, do all Jews own Hollywood? No. It is the Zionist Jews who do. The Zionist Jews own our media, our banks, and all our politicians.”
There are Democrats who distance themselves.
Jared Moskowitz, Democratic Congressman from Florida, urged the national Democratic leadership to distance itself from Galindo’s statements. “First of all, a current political candidate is proposing concentration camps for American Jews. This should be national news!”, he wrote on X.
The best-known Democratic candidate for the Senate from Texas, James Talarico, also distances himself from Galindo.
