The Emirates, as the first neighbouring country to Iran, have decided that the regime cannot be allowed to survive. The Emirates are entering the war and are urging other countries to participate in the war in order to open Hormuz and force the regime to its knees.
This will make the United Arab Emirates the first Gulf state to participate in the war. An anonymous official describes this as “a fundamental shift in the country’s strategic outlook”.
The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also issued a statement in which it condemns the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and calls for a resolution in the UN.
The Gulf states have been attacked by Iranian drones and missiles since the beginning of the war, which has severely affected their economies, tourism, and air traffic.
So far, attempts have been made to respond to the attacks by exerting pressure on the Iranian economy. But now the United Arab Emirates is working on a resolution in the UN Security Council to obtain approval to participate, so that the Strait of Hormuz can be opened and other strategically important locations in Iran can be occupied.
The United Arab Emirates wants the sea route reopened with “all necessary means”.Diplomats from the Gulf states have urged the USA and military powers in Europe and Asia to form a coalition to open the strait by force. According to The Wall Street Journal, the countries are pressing for the war to continue until the regime in Iran is neutralised or overthrown.
The Emirates are calling for a coalition that will intervene in the war now. But the Europeans are willing to assist only once the war has been won.
In the USA, it has been said: Where are the Arabs? They are most directly affected; the outcome has the most immediate significance for them. Is the USA to do the entire job? Again.
Now the Emirates are reciprocating by signalling that they are entering on the side of the USA and Israel.
It is a momentous shift.
