A 21-year-old man of Arab background has been charged with rape of a child under 14 years of age, following an incident in central Tromsø on the night of Saturday, 7 September 2024.
This emerges from the indictment issued by the Public Prosecutors in Nord, to which Document has obtained access. The 21-year-old is charged under section 299 of the Penal Code for having engaged in sexual intercourse with a child under 14 years of age. He was 19 years old at the time of the offence. The rape is alleged to have taken place at two locations in close proximity to one another.

According to the indictment, the Arab man is alleged, at around three o’clock in the morning, to have inserted his penis into the mouth of the Norwegian girl, who was then 13 years old. The act is alleged to have taken place on a bench at Prostneset harbour terminal and in a bicycle garage attached to the harbour terminal.

The indictment was signed by Public Prosecutor Torstein Lindquister on 17 February 2026. The case is to be heard by Nord-Troms and Senja District Court. Any claim for compensation and redress to the injured party is reserved, and any civil claims will be presented by the victim’s counsel. The man has a background from Syria.
