The Peace Prize has become an anti-Trump-prize. The sitting chairman Jørgen Watne Frydnes said the world is becoming increasingly darker. That is a Norwegian euphemism for Trump destroying the ruled-based world order. When his predecessor Berit Reiss-Andersen commented on TV she said that pluralism and rule of law is the basis for democracy. Another jab at Trump.

Next in line is state-broadcaster NRK’s Tove Bjørgaas who has done several stints as correspondent in Washington DC. She was supposed to explain why the prize went to Machado, but turned even this segment into anti-Trump: Mange venezuelans have esacaped to the US, but are noe being deported by Trump.

All Norwegian media are staunchly anti-Trump. They bought the Russia Collusion story hook and sinker and has never looked by. None of the revelations of corruption in the White house under Obama and Biden has made it to the public. It is as if the media decided the public can’t stand it. Thus a large portion of the public are Trump-haters of the most virulent kind.

The media sees to it that they water the Trump Derangement Syndrome every day.

How will Trump’s achievement affect their bias?

So far not at all. The media, the government and the elite in general are so off base that their perception of reality is disturbed. Anti-Trump policy is affecting foreign policy.

The Crown Prince is currently in the US touring Minnesota where the Norwegians went in the 19th century. He met with Tim Walz and it appeared as if that was his environment. Trump is so far removed from their world. The current ambassador Anniken Huitfeldt was seated among he Democrats when Trump delivered his State of the Union.

Norway was the home of the Oslo Peace process during the 90’s and somehow never got over its failure. When Trump moved the embassy and recognized Golan they almost took it as a personal affront. He never asked for their opinion.

The diplomatic corps, academia and NGO’s are structured like the Democratic machine. When the king wanted to send condolances to Israel after 7. October, the foreign office refused. The master of ceremonies at the royal house is a former Palestine-activist, Olav Heian-Engdal, who is married to another Palestine-activist, author and expert, Marte Heian-Engdal.

It is as if Hillary Clinton, Bill and Obama were running the show.

When Obama was here in the summer he was received as if he still was his former self. Time is standing still in Norway.

Ever since 7. October the media has been hammering Israel, day and night. The public are tiring of the constant drum beat. But the anti-Israel stance has had foreign policy implications: Norway are among the leading proponents of a Palestinian state. The government recognized Palestina May of last year.

But that is only part of the story. Norway has been instrumental in the charges against Netanyahu and Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The anti-Israel stance is a gamble. Norway has one of the world’s biggest sovereign wealth funds. The left wants the government to use the fund for political ends, meaning boycotting Israeli firms.

The government was caught sleeping at the wheel and was forced to divest itself of several companies invested in Israel’s defence industry. But this only whetted their apetite and the left now wants the state investment fund to divest from all Israeli companies.

The anti-Israeli stance has become norm. Two years ago the state monopoly on spirits threw out all Israeli wine.

This week two of the biggest retailers – Reitan and Norgesgruppen – declared their boycott of all Israeli produce.

They would not have done that without clearance from the government.

Norway is becoming an anti-semitic country. By boycotting Israeli produce Reitan and Norgesgruppen are forcing its customers to participate in a boycott of the Jewish state.

Anti-Israeli policy is becoming state policy.
