There are strong indications that this may well be the case if the Democrats secure a majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives on 3 November.
The party’s spokespeople have already announced what they will use their newly won power for in that event: endless ‘investigations’ into President Trump and the relentless persecution of his supporters.
Senator Elissa Slotkin has even gone so far as to threaten young people who take a job in the Trump administration with all manner of misfortune. They will come to regret it, for she will certainly ensure that their careers and lives are ruined. Several people have noted that such a statement borders on a breach of the Constitution, but the Democrats no longer care about the US Constitution, which they would prefer to see abolished.
Anarchists, communists and Muslims can also count on Democratic support should they decide to burn down the US.
This is what is at stake, and the Danish media refuse to report on it.
Fortunately, it is far from certain that the increasingly radicalised Democrats will win a majority, even though this is usually the case in mid-term elections. The party holding the presidency can normally expect to lose seats in both chambers.
Admittedly, the opinion polls suggest that the Democrats are set to make gains, but can these polls be trusted?
There is much to suggest that they cannot. Election after election, it turns out that support for the Democrats is overestimated by several percentage points, partly because Republican voters refuse to speak to pollsters. With people like Slotkin around, they can’t know what their answers will be used for. What would stop the extremist senator and her friends from making life miserable for anyone planning to vote for the very people they hate? In that case, it’s better to keep quiet.
It has now even come to light that the so-called polling organisation Wedgewood Polls, as part of an ‘experiment’, has circulated completely fabricated polls that have been cited in formerly reputable media outlets such as the New York Times and Newsweek. The question is what the other pollsters might get up to.
But even fake opinion polls serve a purpose. If Republican voters are told day after day and week after week that the battle is lost, they may be overcome by despondency and choose not to vote, because it seems pointless. This is the real reason why President Trump is currently travelling around the country in an attempt to motivate those who voted for him in 2024 to turn out.
If they do, the Democrats stand little chance.
