The Supreme Court upholds the judgment against Trump for having defamed and inserted two fingers into the vagina of gossip journalist Jean Carroll. He will have to pay her 5 million dollars. At the same time, the Department of Justice is investigating whether billionaire Reid Hoffman financed Carroll’s lawsuits against Trump. If the cases are fabricated, it will place the Supreme Court in great embarrassment.
No president has been prosecuted as Trump has. That the Supreme Court should approve the judgment against Trump is surprising. She is a loose cannon. When she was interviewed by Anderson Cooper on CNN, she said that she fantasised about being raped.
Trump, for his part, has asked how likely it is that he would have met her in one of New York’s best-known exclusive clothing stores, Bergdorf Goodman, pushed her into a fitting room and assaulted her in the middle of the crowd: “At the time I was one of New York’s biggest celebrities and could not take a step without being recognised,” Trump has said.
He claims he has never met Carroll. The story collapses under its own implausibility. Trump says she is not his type either.
The time difference is also significant. Carroll came up with the rape in 2019, while the whole thing was supposed to have unfolded sometime in the 1990s, at least twenty years earlier. For Trump and his associates, there is no such thing as limitation. When Brett Kavanaugh was to be confirmed in the Senate, Catherine Blasey Ford came up with a story that was supposed to have happened thirty years earlier. None of her contemporaries could confirm her version. Even so, liberals took it at face value.
The jury concluded that E. Jean Carroll had not proved that Trump had raped her.
The jury stated, however, that E. Jean Carroll had proved that Trump had sexually assaulted her when he “inserted his fingers into her vagina”.
In a separate defamation case brought by E. Jean Carroll in January 2024, Trump was ordered to pay 83.3 million dollars in damages to Carroll.
Last month it was reported that the Department of Justice has opened an investigation into the funding E. Jean Carroll received from billionaire Reid Hoffman for lawsuits against President Trump.
President Trump reacted to the Supreme Court’s decision to reject his request to rehear the E. Jean Carroll case.
“Surprisingly, the Supreme Court refused to ‘hear’ a fake case that was brought against me by a woman I have never met (a decades-old celebrity photo from a photo shoot, in which she is standing with her husband, does not count!). I will continue the fight against this case, in which the justice system is being weaponised against me, including the ridiculous defamation claim, with all my power and strength. This case is really directed against the United States and everything it stands for, and should never be allowed to happen to another president or future candidate! The State of New York introduced a law, for a moment many decades ago, to wrongfully ‘trap’ me. It was tailor-made, and this injustice cannot be allowed to stand unchallenged! Thank you for taking this case seriously. President DONALD J. TRUMP” Trump
