Péter Magyar promised that Hungary would regain free media. But it appears that Hungarians are going from the frying pan into the fire. What the journalist Zsolt Bede describes is more reminiscent of police-state methods. When one knows the favour Magyar enjoys in Brussels, one must ask whether this is what Europeans have in store.
My name is Zsolt Bede. I am a journalist, influencer, and patriotic activist who supports Orbán and Fidesz.
A week ago, eight investigators showed up at the home of my 75-year-old father. They said nothing, provided no contact information, and simply came there to intimidate him.
A week passed without any further contact, and then they suddenly appeared at my flat.
They presented no documents and did not explain what they were looking for. I was not informed of the charges against me. To this day, I have not been provided with any of the official case documents.
They carried out a search of my home while my 16-year-old son was with me. They also traumatised him. I was not allowed to call my lawyer, and my son was not allowed to speak with his mother. Furthermore, he was not allowed to travel to an important international Scout football event in which he was due to participate. He was unlawfully detained.
The authorities seized my telephones and my laptop, and then they also confiscated my son’s devices. He has absolutely nothing to do with politics.
In total, they took away 13 electronic devices. Before they left, they also thoroughly searched my car. The entire housing complex watched as though I were some kind of terrorist, while eight police officers searched the vehicle.
The following day, I was ordered to report to police headquarters for a five-and-a-half-hour interrogation. The official report stated that I had not cooperated with the authorities, which is a lie. I was fully cooperative.
The entire case was full of legal violations. It was a threat, and I was humiliated in front of my own child.
This is the situation in Hungary under Péter Magyar.
We see a pattern: we were told that the conservative party in Poland, PiS, had subordinated both the judiciary and the media. The EU halted the disbursement of funds. Norwegian courts took part in the boycott. What we are now hearing from present-day Poland is precisely the nightmare scenario that was painted at the time, and this applies across the board: one paints the Devil on the wall, and after taking power one introduces the very regime one claimed to be fighting.
This is the same method that the Democrats and the deep state have developed in the United States.
As this is being written, we hear NRK’s Sofia Paskiewicz describing conditions in the Czech Republic after Babiš won the election. She says that the independence of the media is under threat. Paskiewicz implies that a colour revolution is needed. That idea was developed by an American named Norm Eisen. Through the deep state’s unlimited resources, colour revolutions were carried out in country after country.
Every time NRK begins talking about democracy being under threat in a country, that is precisely the case. From the forces for which NRK works.
They annulled the election in Romania, and it happened with the blessing of the EU.
