The mainstream media have turned alternative media into a threat, but common sense tells us that it is precisely them who live in an alternative reality. They do not take in what is happening, but insist – every single day – on their own interpretation, and on seeing the world through specially adapted glasses. After ten years the signs of madness are massive.

Now we are facing a new turning point: The authorities want control over what is said and written on the net. This is a European programme emanating from Brussels, and Norway is participating: All chat messages will be scanned before they are encrypted. To be able to do that, the authorities must have access to your phone. That means the authorities get a door into all your communication.

Officially it is to find abuse material. But the possibilities for misunderstandings are legion. It is AI that carries out the control. Scanning billions of messages before they are encrypted has only become possible with AI. AI can compare your holiday photos with a database of abuse images. Which means that the possibilities for misinterpretations are considerable. Such a story can destroy a career and a relationship. But it can also be useful for the authorities. They have acquired a tool that they can use to discipline the population and isolate alternative media. Only the most stubborn will endure. Everyone else has something they must or want to defend: Their relationship with the bank, their employer, their wife, neighbours.

This is what we call a totalitarian society. The road is paved and widened every single day. Much indicates that it is already being used.

The technologisation of what concerns citizens’ right to privacy is hidden behind a good purpose: the fight against abuse.

In Norway the fight against right-wing extremism operates in the shadow of 22 July, and now it is claimed that Breivik has become a saint and that his ideological baggage is being normalised. Harald Stanghelle’s commentary in Aftenposten was insane:

For in 2026 what was called «the darkest corners of the net» is common property. It is also the betrayal narrative about the Labour Party and the hatred against the AUF. What was extreme in 2011 has become the new normal. And more frightening: The acceptance of extreme statements is much higher than a few years ago. Not least this applies to the ideological baggage that led to the mass murder on Utøya.

It is promoted openly in podcasts, comment fields and so-called alternative media. Fired up by the profit-driven algorithms of the tech giants.

This is not the Stanghelle we know: one who weighs his words and makes sure to place himself in the middle.

This is a commissar with a flat, boring language, and this flatness is inversely proportional to the degree of danger.

When retired editors begin to express themselves as if they were part of Mao’s Cultural Revolution, something remarkable has happened.

This is a new version of the neocons, the collection of politicians and intellectuals who wanted to use American power to change the world.

In the USA Trump is a solid counterweight, but in Europe politicians, media and academia are doing everything to remove it.

They are removing the brakes, so that the current can grow and sweep all resistance aside. This applies to the legal ones, but also the human: inhibitions.

Freedom of speech becomes only an empty word if Big Brother can read all your private communication.

But the politicians have reached a level of cynicism where this does not impress them, and they are betting that the voters do not have the imagination to imagine that they wish them so ill. Most people adapt.

But in Ibsen’s homeland one should know that it is the minority and the way it is treated that determines the future of democracy.

As in the GDR one can read the authorities’ attitude to a phenomenon by looking at what they do not mention: Norwegian media do not write about the radicalisation of the Democrats in the USA, which is now not at Obama level, but stands forth as socialists: Democratic Socialists of America wants to give power to Congress and abolish the presidential system. In European terms this is called parliamentarism, and what can be wrong with that? Majority rule. But that is not what America was built on.

The political class that governs Europe would welcome such a development. That it means the winding up of the republic and a unique historical experiment, so be it. They get rid of Trump.

The USA will resemble Europe more. The distance to China becomes smaller.

Politics is undergoing a transformation: It is less about content than about the game. If you control enough command posts, you will win.

It was therefore telling that ABC, NBC and CNN refused to broadcast Trump’s speech about election fraud in 2020. They did not want the voters to hear what the country’s president had to say about an election they themselves participated in and doubted.

They set themselves up as judges over the American people’s right to know.

There you have the core of the illiberal tendency we have seen grow stronger among the elite in recent decades: They have carried out a coup. They want to decide what you are allowed to know, and deviations will be cracked down on.

That this Europe is Islamophilic and antisemitic is a framework narrative.

If one looks at what comes out of C-REX, Faktisk.no, VG and NRK, one sees a radicalisation, a willingness to shape messages that completely ignore what we can otherwise observe around us.

The enormous state dominance in Scandinavia makes such a power takeover possible.

The transitions happen imperceptibly and are given an unselfish appearance. Appeals to solidarity and community never go out of fashion.

But that is also how they spoke in the GDR: It was always a campaign for the good of the community, for a good cause.

PRIDE has obviously been conceived as an instrument to brainwash the population and accustom the ordinary citizen to accepting that collective mass phenomena are normal.

Everything is of course about love.

But not for the Jews. That Bassam Hussein could get away with his glorification of the 7 October massacre and the report being shelved is one of the most serious attacks on Norwegian democracy of all time, and it came from within – from NTNU, from colleagues and from the police. That again means that all brakes have been disconnected. If I were Jewish, I would never risk staying in such a country. I would know that the authorities would not protect me.

But the opposition is not safe either. That is what the use of Breivik tells us, as well as the rabid statements that he has now become a saint and is normalised.

The 15 years that have passed describe a sad development for Norwegian democracy. It is almost unbelievable what one today allows oneself to say.

One has strictly speaking not learned anything at all.
