The man suspected of having killed Nikoline Piwoni Høie on a motorway in Spain has been released by the police. From a Norwegian perspective, the release appears incomprehensible, as the case is far from solved. According to Spanish media, however, he has been eliminated from the investigation.
José Miguel G. C. attempted to conceal that his car had collided with something. He washed the vehicle with bleach, but only attracted the attention of his neighbours. According to media reports, he admitted that he had lied. We are now being presented with a very different version of events.
However, sources at the High Court of Justice of Andalusia (TSJA) cited by the Spanish newspaper SUR say that the man is no longer a suspect in the case and has been released by the court in Fuengirola without conditions.
The man appeared before the court on Tuesday, and the remand hearing was postponed until Wednesday. But on Wednesday he was released, according to the newspaper. (NTB)
