Joshua Kerry (28) is accused of having murdered Reform politician Ann Widdecombe in her home in Devon in what police suspect was a terrorist attack.
Joshua Kerry has lived alone in a council house in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, since his father died last year. Rotherham is approximately 300 miles north of Ann Widdecombe’s home.
The family is well known in the Kimberworth Park area, where several family members have served in the military.
His father, Paul Yates, was described as a “highly intelligent” former research engineer in the steel industry. He stopped working after losing a leg and was later diagnosed with stomach cancer in his sixties. His father died shortly before Christmas, and Joshua Kerry remained living alone after his two brothers moved out.
After finishing school, Kerry took an office job with a lift company. He stopped working when his father died.
Neighbours described him this week as polite, “quiet and shy”. They said he would often wheel out their bins or accept parcel deliveries on their behalf.
Joshua Kerry remains in custody until Tuesday.
There is speculation on social media as to whether this really is the killer. The background to the speculation is an AI-generated image created from the pixelated video that was recently released. In that image, the suspect has a different hairstyle, has lost his beard, and also appears much older than his 28 years. He does not look like the same man, but that is because it is AI-generated. The address and the car are a match.

Transgender person Heather Herbert has been arrested and charged over hateful comments made in connection with the murder of Ann Widdecombe, writes the BBC.

Heather Herbert is employed by the University of Aberdeen.
The Times published Herbert’s comments, in which he wrote:
“Finally, some good news. I hope it was an extremely painful death.”
Heather Herbert then added:
“I hope she was handcuffed to the bed while she screamed in pain.”

Heather Herbert was reported to the police, who initially dismissed the case. He has now been arrested.
The same Heather Herbert appears here with two transgender friends discussing Charlie Kirk. Heather Herbert is on the right:
