A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car drove into five pedestrians in Ealing, West London, on Saturday. Police describe the man as a British citizen born in Somalia.
The car struck the pedestrians outside the Marks & Spencer department store in Ealing Broadway at 2:29 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Five people were injured. Two were treated at the scene, while three were taken to hospital.
None of the injured is believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police.
The vehicle did not stop after the collision but was intercepted shortly afterwards in nearby Grange Park. The driver was arrested there on suspicion of dangerous driving and attempted murder.
Videos posted on X show several people running after a white car and attempting to stop it as it fled the scene.

Because of the nature of the incident, the local police consulted Counter Terrorism Policing London during the initial stages of the investigation. However, the case is not being treated as terrorism.
“While investigators are keeping an open mind regarding any possible motive, the incident is not being treated as terrorism,” the Metropolitan Police said.
The London Ambulance Service dispatched ambulances, paramedics in rapid response vehicles, a volunteer emergency response unit and an incident response officer to the scene. London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
