The Oslo District Court (Oslo tingrett) has sentenced Marius Høiby to four years’ imprisonment, almost half of the prosecution’s requested sentence of seven years and seven months. Two of the four alleged rapes of a sleeping victim were dropped. The verdict was unanimous.

A prison sentence for the son of Norway’s Crown Princess is, in any case, a severe loss of prestige. It affects perceptions of the Royal House both at home and abroad.
