It was Nasire Best (21) from Maryland who caused chaos outside the White House on Saturday evening when he opened fire and triggered a full alarm response from the Secret Service and the FBI. Journalists were ordered to leave their equipment on the northern side of the grounds and were evacuated into the White House. Best was wounded and died on the way to hospital. He had a history of mental illness.
He reportedly had several previous encounters with the Secret Service and a history of mental health problems.
Best was arrested by the Secret Service on 26 June 2025 for waving agents over and making threats, and again on 10 July 2025 for entering a restricted-access area, Fox News has learned.
It has been less than a month since Cole Allen attempted to storm the major press dinner in Washington where Trump, Vance, Hegseth, Miller and other key figures were present.
Inside the White House, Trump was sitting in negotiations with the Iranians and considering whether to go to war. Outside the windows there was also a kind of war. Trump did not allow himself to be affected.
White House communications director Steven Cheung said on Saturday evening that President Donald Trump was still working in the White House amid the escalating tensions surrounding Iran and a shooting near the presidential residence.
“President Trump is working at 8 p.m.,” Cheung wrote on X.
“Can’t stop, won’t stop,” he added.
