The top members of the Trump administration aren’t the only ones sharply criticising the German domestic security service Verfassungsschutz’s classification of the AfD as “certainly right-wing extremist”.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán also reacts with disbelief to the security service’s labelling of Alice Weidel’s crew as extremists.

In a post on X following the announcement from Verfassungsschutz, Orbán writes:

What the hell is going on in Germany? You can trust us, Alice Weidel!

Orbán has been close to AfD for several years. During a meeting with the AfD leader in Budapest in February, Orban hailed the party as “the future of Europe”, according to Die Welt.

Weidel had then referred to Hungary as a role model in dealing with illegal migration, writes the German newspaper.
