Susie Wiles is stepping down as White House Chief of Staff and will be succeeded by Stephen Miller, who has been her deputy. It is difficult to discern any political signals. Miller belongs to the inner circle and is 100 per cent committed to ‘America First’ and ‘Make America Great Again’.
However, there are other departures from the administration:
The US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Jason Quiñones, is stepping down. Quiñones previously handled the case against former CIA Director John Brennan.
John Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division, has also resigned.
Todd Blanche’s full statement:“Today I have accepted the resignation of John Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for the National Security Division at the Department of Justice. He has performed his duties outstandingly and helped to strengthen the country’s ability to deal with threats, both from abroad and at home.”
The first to leave the Department of Justice was Hermet Dhillon, head of the Civil Rights Division.
Commentators on Fox say the choice of Miller shows that Trump is closing ranks and preparing for a fight.
