Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Labour) believes that the US President lacks the patience to write properly.
He told pupils at Fyrstikkalleen School in Oslo this when he was asked why he isn’t tougher on Donald Trump, writes Dagsavisen.
– Donald Trump speaks to the world’s press two or three times a day. When he says something that makes for very big headlines or posts on his social media – in other words, he’s so impatient that he can’t even write in lower-case letters, it’s all capital letters – then he’s heard all over the world, said Støre.
The Prime Minister went on to say that Trump uses much stronger language than he does.
– He talks about his opponents as enemies. I don’t do that. That’s how we differ, he said.
If a Norwegian Prime Minister were to speak out more forcefully, he would have to shout very loudly, Støre argued.
Støre went on to say that his own job is to look after Norwegian interests.
– “I therefore have to think carefully about what is wise to say and what not to say. There may be things he says that I agree with, but there is much I disagree with, and I make my position clear in the way I believe is right,” said the Prime Minister.
This is not the first time Støre has criticised Trump. On 22 September, he described the language used in Trump’s speech at the UN as ‘harsh’.
So now it was Norwegian schoolchildren who got to hear what the Norwegian Prime Minister thinks of the President of Norway’s closest ally.
