When I hear newspaper journalists hailing AI and AI tools as the future of journalism itself, I become deeply sceptical and disheartened. Instinctively, I sense that the days of the independent pen are numbered. There is a clear difference between using AI as a tool to gather data quickly and allowing it to write an entire article from start to finish. Unfortunately, many are now choosing the latter. Before long, the “last article” will have been written—as we have traditionally understood the act of writing.
